100 Days Until Milan-Cortina 2026
The 25th Winter Olympics begin on February 6
Hello and welcome back! It’s been 443 days since we closed the book on the Paris Summer Games, and in just a few short months the Olympic world will return to Europe for Italy’s fourth time hosting the Games.
If you’re a new subscriber since Paris 2024, Olympics Daily is a newsletter delivered each day of the of the Games with everything you need to know to maximize your Olympics watching experience. After the Olympics are over, we go on hiatus until the next Games.
The 2026 Winter Games mark the debut of a new Olympic sport: Ski Mountaineering, Picture regular skiing without the chairlift. Athletes start the race by climbing the mountain on their skis, including sections of cross-country skiing, then ski back down the un-groomed mountainside. Look for men’s, women’s, and co-ed races and relays.
These games will also bring the return of American skier Lindsay Vonn, competing in her fifth Olympic Games and first since 2018.
